You have a lot of info about the festival in my blog, but I summarize here some ideas for you: http://haciaelsurenelatlantico.wordpress.com/2014/05/07/i-festival-musical-feminista-y-autogestionado-de-valladolid/ Organisers: Acción Feminista: a group of young women aged 21-28, coming from the antifascist movement. They are part of the "Plataforma por la sexualidad y el aborto libres" from Valladolid. http://accionfeminista.tk/ Hacia el Sur en el Atlántico: feminist podcast! ;) and platform for other public projects such as fanzine workshops, film projections, debates, musical sessions, etc. http://haciaelsurenelatlantico.wordpress.com/ Goal: Recognize the presence of women in the musical scene as artists, organizers and also as audience. Reclaim the "autogestión" principles and a non-official culture in our city. Denounce the lack of concerts in our city due to the prosecution of small bars and gigs for small audiences. Name: Combination of potorro + rock. Potorro in Spanish is a very informal word for "cunt". Similar to "figa" in italian, probably. We could have called it "ladyfest" but we though that name is too big for us... and also because we are very informal girls, we like to joke all the time :) Dates: The concert will take place on Friday 20th June 2014 in sala Asklepios at 21:00 (audience: 350 people aprox). We'll try to arrange discounts at hostels for the people coming from other places, but we're still working on it. There may be some activities on Saturday 21st in case we know there are people coming from other cities as well, we'll see. Groups: Jhana sonido electro-orgánico (also known as Hanna Show Permanente) One of the most representative artists of the city Always helpful with groups related to autogestión Singer of the group "Adiós Motherfunker": http://adiosmotherfunker.bandcamp.com/ Her personal show (sonido electro orgánico) consists on her live composition og music with a loop station: she records the beat (she's a rewarded beatboxer), the choirs, the guitar...). They have no recorded material yet but they have some videos in youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZVhw5FB9_c http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2euAgC4Hgig Financial issues: We want the festival to be self-financed. We'll celebrate 3 previous parties / lunches to gain money, but we've also launched a crowdfunding site with very cheap products to help us http://www.verkami.com/projects/8884-potorrock-2014/ We will pay the work of all artists and in case we get benefits from the tickets sales and merchandising, we will distribute all the money to them. The organizers do not want any money, just have fun and recognize the work of the artists (that is why the financial part is very important to us). Design: The professional illustrator Miriam Muñoz (aka Miriampersand) will design the lettering and the poster. She has published a comic “Animal Party”, appears in the compilation of all-female Spanish illustrators “Enjambre” and she is the co-directress of one of the main queer fanzine “Una Buena Barba“. She has collaborated in Ladyfest Madrid 2013, and in the campaign “Wombastic” against the new abortion law in Spain, as well as in inititiatives to support Pussy Riot in 2012. Travelling to Valladolid: Very easy!! You can fly either to Madrid, Bilbao, Santander... and then take a train of bus to Valladolid. Madrid is probably the best option as it only takes 2 hours by bus/car (Bilbao and Santander are 3 hours away, more or less). In case you prefer the train, there are special discounts for 4 people travelling together (very suitable as the trip in these trains only take 1 hour). For you info: a return BUS ticket Madrid-Valladolid-Madrid costs about 28-30€. http://alsa.es/ a return TRAIN ticket Madrid-Valladolid-Madrid costs about 50 € a return TRAIN ticket Madrid-Valladolid-Madrid with the 4 people discount costs about 25 € http://renfe.com/ I can give you a hand with this if you finally decide to come over ;) It would be just great!
