Download it for free on Soundcloud. -Lupa | Eyes Unclouded Lupa: “Eyes Unclouded” Fifteen-year-old Australian Imogen Jones puts out her dark indie-pop music under the name Lupa. Knowing just that, you may jump to the conclusion that this project is the result of some record label seeing Lorde’s success and saying, “Quick! Get me a young indie-pop teenage girl from down under!” But, of course, you’d be wrong. Though Lupa’s music is just as good and just as polished as anything released by the other L-named teenager, she produces and releases all of her music on her own, which makes her growing success even more impressive. Blending electronica, moody indie music, and her classical training as a violinist, Jones’ music is dense, interesting, and insanely catchy. “Eyes Unclouded,” her latest offering shows off Lupa’s ethereal voice and strong songwriting. Most interesting, I think, is the song’s structure: there’s no real chorus. Each time the verse sets you up for one, the music switches gears, refusing to give in to an overblown anthem. Instead, it snakes around through textures and melodies, always leaving you wanting more. -Låpsley "Station" At only 17 years old, young Liverpool-based producer Holly Lapsley Fletcher aka Låpsley dropped an astonishingly beautiful track titled “Station.” Using her youthful yet soulful vocals among a minimal backdrop, it paints a hauntingly gorgeous image darkly lit. The gorgeousness of the song sinks you into unexpected emotional immersion. Surprisingly, the second vocals heard on the track are her as well. As she states on her Soundcloud, “dropped the pitch of vocals, no co-vocalist, aint nobody got tym fo dat.” It melds effortlessly together for a beautiful experience. --sharon jones and the dap kings/we get along (give the people what they want) Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings are an American funk/soul band signed to Daptone Records. They are spearheads of a revivalist movement that aims to capture the essence of funk/soul music as it was at its height in the mid-1960s to mid-1970s. Part of the way this is achieved is to shun modern digital recording methods in favour of using traditional analog recording equipment. sharon si è per fortuna ripresa dalla chemio a causa di un tumore, l'album era previsto per agosto, ma ora sta bene, ed è i forma smagliante come sempre! http://www.npr.org/2014/01/05/259143137/first-listen-sharon-jones-and-the-dap-kings-give-the-people-what-they-want -gemclub Gem Club is an American chamber pop band based out of Boston, Massachusetts. The music of Gem Club is a bit like that, mixing beauty and melancholy. One makes you appreciate the other, so it's a dynamic that works perfectly on the band's second album, appropriately titled In Roses. Built around piano, cello and voice, Gem Club got its start a few years ago in Boston. The main voice and author of the group's woe and splendor is Christopher Barnes, who sets the tone alongside cellist Kristen Drymala and singer Ieva Berberian; together, they made some of my favorite music of 2011 on their debut full-length Breakers. While Gem Club primarily recorded Breakers in Barnes' bedroom studio, this time they traveled to San Francisco to lay down tracks in John Vanderslice's all-analog Tiny Telephone studios. Barnes worked closely with Minna Choi, a string arranger and music director for the Magik*Magik Orchestra, the studio's de facto house band. Together, Barnes and Choi helped discover new intricacies in this music, which sounds more resplendent with more ambient passages. The voices and cello are woven together perfectly. Gem Club's first record was a perfect late-night soundtrack, and In Roses is its perfectly elegant sequel. It'll be a close companion for thoughtful, beautiful times in 2014. se vi piace questo pezzo procuratevi breakers, il loro album di debutto uscito nel settembre 2011.
